We have outlined below some of the most important driving rules of Hungary, in order to help awareness of different driving
laws in foreign countries.
Please use below rules as guide, but keep in mind that rules are subject to change and they are corrected as of November 2012.

Which Side of the Road?
Please drive on the RIGHT side of the road in Hungary.
Unique Country Driving Laws
- Mobile phones can be used only when your hands free is on.
- It prohibited to use horn, unless to prevent accident.
- Driver using motorways M1, M3, M5 and M7 should have a relevant vignette sticker, which can be bought from every petrol statin or post office
Speed Limits
For a standard Avis rental vehicle with no trailers:
- Urban areas: 50 km/h
- Rural areas: 90 km/h or 110 km/h
- Motorways: 130 km/h
There could be speed changes indicated by road signs!
Child Safety / Seatbelt Laws
It is compulsory for all people inside the vehicle to wear a seatbelt.
- Children under 3 and measuring less than 150cm must be seated in an appropriate child restraint
- Children older than 3 and measuring more than 135cm may not be seated in child seat, but the seat belt must fit he child size.
Please ask your Avis representative to help fit your child with the correct child seat.
